    As a small engineering firm working with Polyester Glass, Epoxy Glass, Mica and advanced plastics such as Acetal and PEEK it is essential that our staff have the right skills to meet the needs of our customers. Having our extensive range of CNC machines operated by skilled staff ensure they are running efficiently and to a high-quality standard.

    Kieran started with Presspahn with no qualifications in engineering and has quickly progressed through his NVQ2 in Performing Manufacturing Operations. He has received a foundation in all aspects of manufacturing including inspection, health and safety and problem solving. Supported with in house training Kieran has learnt how to set CNC milling centres, CNC routers and programming of CNC controls. Kieran has quickly developed and has now started his NVQ 3 Machinist where he will learn many more skills including:

    • Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques Turning
    • Maintaining Mechanical Devices and Equipment Fluid Power
    • Assembling and Testing Fluid Power Systems
    • Producing Mechanical Assemblies
    • Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning Operations
    • Preparing and using Milling Machines

    Craig, Patrick and Nathan are starting on their first steps to precision engineering with the NVQ2 in Performing manufacturing operations that Kieran recently completed. As members of our production staff this is the first time they have received nationally recognised formal training in manufacturing.

    Training does not only extend to our production staff, we also have Terri who is working on her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Team Leading/Supervision. Having well trained team leaders is important in a business as it ensures staff are motivated and working effectively at all times ensuring the best outcome for our customers.
