  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) October 11, 2013 - Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre,Eight Years perfecting Urban Death. Terror has arrived in North Hollywood.

So, how does North Hollywood do Halloween? In a theatre of course! Afterall, the NoHo Arts District is a one-square mile neighborhood home to 20+ theatres, theatre companies, acting classes and actors calling our neighborhood home. But we must ask, how does Zombie Joe's Underground Theatre celebrate Halloween? With URBAN DEATH of course.

For those who may not have seen a Zombie Joe's show yet, we asked the infamous theatre owner about Urban Death and why it will scare the living daylights out of you.

What exactly is Urban Death: Tour of Terror Haunted Theatre Attraction?
URBAN DEATH: TOUR OF TERROR HAUNTED THEATRE ATTRACTION! is our "terrifying signature horror production that delves into the depths of inexplicable horrors, unfathomable monstrosities, incorrigible nightmares, and the disturbed spirits that walk among us" but transformed into a haunted maze and show of sorts - part semi-interactive haunted house/part frightening performance art, all up close, real fun and scary, and much of it brand-new!

How did you come up with the idea of Urban Death?
The group and I were looking to expand on our passion for grand guignol and tableaux-style stage horror. We had experimented with these theatre of cruelty and various horror elements in the past within our style and framework for our previous productions, but it wasn't until 2005 that we actually put our darkest fantasies and scenarios to the test and ramped up our first, full-blown show dedicated to the horror genre, the first incarnation of URBAN DEATH.

When did you begin Urban Death?
Our first production was in the summer of 2005, eight years ago. We've since produced over a dozen incarnations of the show in North Hollywood and New York City, to jaw-dropping terror and critical acclaim.

What makes Zombie Joe's productions unique?
Like any good theatre production (or rather, as Shakespeare "imagined" it): We partner-up with the imaginations of our audience. We at Zombie Joe's Underground are theatre artists first and foremost. We try to side-step the shrill, the obvious, and any "lack" of any bullshit other than complete commitment to our stagecraft. We are completely driven, possessed, and slaves to our craft, in mind, body and spirit...and all to entertain YOU!

When does this dastardly theatre experience begin?
We open this Friday, October 11 @ 8:30PM.
Come see the show, fun for all!
