U.S. Antique Shows, a major producer of antique shows in North America, announced today that it has partnered with the Miami Design Preservation League, a non-profit organization devoted to the preservation of Miami Beach's Art Deco District, to participate in its 36th Annual Art Deco Weekend from January 18-20, 2013.

Visitors to The Original Miami Beach Antique Show tent, at the south end of the festival, will get a sneak preview of some of the unique pieces available at this year's Original Miami Beach Antique Show, ranging from furniture to antique jewelry and sculptures that date back to the 17th-19th centuries. Additionally, a limited number of free tickets to this year's show will be given away.

HistoryMiami and Humane Society of Greater Miami will also be partnering with the show for this effort. Humane Society of Greater Miami will have dogs available for adoption and HistoryMiami will showcase their annual Miami International Map Fair. This annual weekend event showcases antique maps, rare books, panoramas and atlases from around the world. In 2013, the Miami International Map Fair will commemorate the 500th anniversary of Juan Ponce de León's arrival on Florida's east coast.

"We are thrilled to partner with the Miami Design Preservation League, and join in its commitment to conserving the eclectic culture of one of the most vibrant cities in the world," said Dan Darby, group fair director for US Antique Shows. "Our partnership with Art Deco Weekend will also allow us to further develop our relations within the local Miami community, while offering greater exposure to antique enthusiasts."

"The Art Deco Weekend Committee is thrilled to welcome the Original Miami Beach Antique Show to our festival," said Amanda Bush, director of marketing and PR. "We have been looking for creative ways to bring in more vintage and antique dealers to Ocean Drive during our three day event. This is the perfect solution and we couldn't be happier. We look forward to a long relationship with The Original Miami Beach Antique Show."

Art Deco Weekend draws nearly 300,000 people for the three-day event, and features more than 80 events, including dance performances, lectures, parades, guided tours among other festivities. The weekend-long event takes place from noon to 11:00 p.m. on January 18, 10:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. on January 19 and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on January 20.

    About Art Deco Weekend:
The Art Deco Festival was started in 1976 by the Miami Design Preservation League to attract visitors to Miami Beach's Art Deco Historic District and to raise awareness and appreciation of the arts and culture of the Art Deco era (approx. 1925-1945).
The founders of Miami Design Preservation League wanted to create a festival that would attract people to Ocean Drive in order to bring attention to the gorgeous Art Deco buildings that live there. Now, millions have come to the district and Miami Beach enjoys some of the best preservation laws in the country. MDPL will host the 36th Art Deco Weekend with the same beautiful backdrop as the first Art Deco Weekend.

Art Deco Weekend draws close to 300,000 people for the three-day event (in the middle of January each year), and features more than 85 events, including guided tours, fashion shows, lecture series, film series, parade, music, antique vendors, food vendors, parties, 3D mapping presentations, art exhibits, street entertainment, children's entertainment, and more.
