  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2020 - The Nurses Pub (www.thenursespub.org), a leading non-profit support group for nurses, announced it will hold a one-day event to educate young people and families about Covid-19 and distribute much needed masks, sanitizers, food, and information.

The Nurses Pub is best known for its many programs that support nurses, including scholarships, professional development classes, and recruitment services. Additionally, the organization is dedicated to the community, and is putting on this event to help educate school-aged children in Los Angeles on methods to stay Covid-safe, now especially vital with schools soon reopening during the pandemic.

According to the New York Times, new studies show that children are at risk for catching and spreading the virus, and those between the ages of 10 and 19 can spread the virus at the same rate as adults. The findings suggest that as schools reopen, communities will see clusters of infection that include children of all ages.

“As a nurse on the front lines, I know first-hand how this virus is affecting young people” said the Nurses Pub Founder and CEO, Mona Clayton, MSN, RN. “Many children in our inner city come from homes where masks and sanitizers are simply not in the budget, so we must provide our communities with these resources as well as information on how to stop the spread of this dangerous virus.”

The Nurses Pub has developed an easy to understand brochure titled, “Stop the Spread: Understanding the Coronavirus.” The brochure will be given to parents and children at the event, along with personal protective masks and sanitizers. Free food will also be given out at the event.
