  • Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2012 - The Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf Association will hold "Bagpipe Nights" on Tuesday, March 13th from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM at #1 Old Fisherman's Wharf featuring a special performance by Pipe Major Michel d'Avenas.

    During this free special event for all who love the beautiful sound of the bagpipes, award-winning bagpipe teacher, Michel d'Avenas, who is also the Pipe Major for the Monterey Bay Pipe Band (formerly the First Salinas Valley Highlanders), will perform a wide array of popular bagpipe tunes including "Scotland the Brave", "Amazing Grace' and many others.

    Michel d'Avenas (www.pebblebeachpiper.com) is the Pipe Major (or music leader) of the Monterey Bay Pipe Band. Michel is a multi-award-winning bagpiper who has taught bagpiping locally for over 30 years to hundreds of youth and adults of all ages, from age 4 to age 86. He has also performed at hundreds of weddings, memorials, Celtic Festivals including winning numerous awards at the Monterey Scottish Games & Celtic Festival and other festivals throughout California, and performs weekly at the Inn at Spanish Bay in Pebble Beach. Bagpipe Nights are designed to introduce both young and older people to the rich tradition of the bagpipes in an informal setting.
