  • (1888PressRelease) February 08, 2013 - The Mo-Odds latest EP, Soto, is scheduled for a full release on March 1st through UsedBinPop Music / Alpha Pup Distribution with the band supporting the album with a small tour to be announced later this month. The band is also offering free streaming and download of Lights Go Out (http://themoodds.bandcamp.com/track/lights-go-out) for a limited time.

Soto, recorded at Infrasonic Studios with producer Eric Palmquist (Wavves, Fools Gold), captures the band's longtime relationship with the down part of downtown Los Angeles. Soto is named after the street that cuts through the heart of Boyle Heights, the band's home.

"We named it Soto because we are Soto, in more ways than one." Lead singer Chris Mowod said about the upcoming release. "We've been here forever and most people don't know about us. We're a little bit downer and dirtier and always on the periphery…There's a sense of home and community here that you don't see very often in the LA music scene."

The band is having a record release party on February 16th at the R Bar, a Korea-town music stronghold known for its' packed shows and password-only door policy. The full tour dates will be announced at the show.

Soto is the band's national debut, being released in partnership with UsedBinPop Music and Alpha Pup Distribution. The infectious signature rock 'n' soul, inspired by equal parts Screamin' Jay Hawkins and Reverend Al Greene, is taken to new extremes with the production from Palmquist and the addition of new musicians. The result is the same dance inducing songcraft that locals have come to expect from the band with tighter production and a much bigger sound for a national audience.

Beneath the new gospel and pop overtones, the rawness and realness that earned the band its' frenetic reputation can still be felt. The result is a toe-tapping album that's just as suited to shaking your bones on a dancefloor as it is enjoying in the shower with your morning beer.

The full media kit, including each of the tracks from Soto (Lights Go Out is available to share online or on your site, the rest of the tracks are available for review), are available here (http://www.themoodds.com/soto-full-media-kit-12532.htm).
