CONSIDERATE GREEN TEAM OF THE YEAR 2011/12

The Landmark London is delighted to announce that it has been awarded The Considerate Green Team of the Year 2011/2012 at the prestigious annual Considerate Hoteliers Association (CHA) awards. It is the award for the hotel or guest house which the judges deem to have made the most difference in 2011, by virtue of the work undertaken by their Green Team.

The Landmark London's Green Team is a group of volunteers from around the hotel's departments that review and evaluate sustainable initiatives and strive towards implementing these with the goal of creating a 'greener' and more sustainable environment while maintaining The Landmark London's high standard of guest comfort.

    ENHANCED RECYCLING

A one year recycling comparison reveals that 86% of all hotel waste is now being recycled. In 2011 general waste amounted to 14 tonnes, and in 2012 this has been almost halved to eight tonnes. All general waste unable to be recycled is incinerated, as opposed to being sent to a landfill site. Their short term goal is for 90% of all waste to be recycled.

    COCO-MAT BEDS

COCO-MAT beds are gradually being introduced throughout The Landmark London's guest rooms each time an old mattress needs replacing. Further enhancing sustainability whilst maintaining the comfort and luxurious feel enjoyed by guests, the beds consist of multiple layers of natural materials from renewable sources including coco fibre, natural rubber, cotton, goose down, wood and silk, providing elastic support for a great nights sleep, without the use of metal springs.

    'SEED THE WORLD'

In their efforts to help make the planet a greener place, The Landmark London is offering guests and staff a mix of wild flower seeds for planting at home or in their community to encourage the creation of attractive green spaces and to benefit the local wildlife. Wild flowers make an ideal haven for wildlife and are nectar and food plants for butterflies, bees and other beneficial insects.
