  • Camden, NJ (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2012 - Sergeant Alessandro Leonard Plutino, who was known to all as Sandrino was killed in action in Afghanistan in August, 2011 while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Plutino was a Team Leader assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia. Sandrino was killed 15 days before his 29th birthday on the last mission his unit would do before the end of his 6th deployment. He had already served three tours in Iraq and two previous tours in Afghanistan. Few people outside of the special operations community know the work that these gallant young men do for them and what they give up to serve. The special operations group, which includes the Army Rangers, have been on the front lines in this war against terror facing hardships unimaginable to most for little or no recognition.

Sergeant Alessandro Leonard Plutino was born Aug. 23, 1982 in Washington Township, New Jersey. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 2006 from his hometown of Pitman, New Jersey. Plutino is survived by his mother Dianne Hammond and his father Sandro Plutino, both of Pitman. As a Ranger, Plutino selflessly lived his life for others and distinguished himself as a member of the Army's premier direct action raid force, continuously deployed in support of the Global War on Terror, and fought valiantly as he served his fellow Rangers and our great Nation.

Sergeant Plutino's friends at Audubon Plumbing Supply requested this press release about a golf outing they are sponsoring. Brian Murphy at Audubon Plumbing Supply knows his friend, like all fallen heroes, will not be forgotten. Sandrino was loved and respected by his "brothers" and they feel that the best way to Honor his Sacrifice is by giving back to the special operations community and the town he called home. The money which Audubon Plumbing Supply helps raise will be for the Lead the Way Fund. The Lead the Way Fund, Inc. is a non-profit organization established to raise funds in support of disabled U.S. Army Rangers and the families of Rangers who have died, have been injured or are currently serving in harm's way around the world. Please go online and offer your support to this worthy organization.
