  • (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2011 - The Australian Martial Arts & Cultural Festival will highlight and promote martial arts not just as a sport and a form of self defence but also represents years of culture and tradition with hundreds of performers dressing in cultural costumes, cultural cuisine, traditional displays which makes the event as stand - alone event, showcasing the heritage that comes with each particular style of martial arts. It is our vision that the event will have martial arts displays and provides opportunities for interaction between participants and the performers along with other cultural aspects, showcasing the origin and culture of martial arts. After the world event, it would be our vision to stage at least one or two festivals such as this each year in Australia to introduce the general public to many forms of martial arts and the vibrant cultural performances and colours of its culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people.

Throughout America and Canada, these events had been hugely successful with famous dignitaries such as Steven Seagal and Arnold Schwarzenegger even hosting two of its own events. Where Australia has nowhere near the population as the United States, numbers are still expected to be large as many martial arts world title holders reside in Australia. Because of this, martial arts in Australia have huge followers which when coupled with Australia's cultural diversity must only lead to some exciting new events in Australia. The festival will serve two purposes: one to support the Eduarda Foundation's women and children victims of domestic violence and the provide a platform for the staging of the 3rd World Martial Arts and Cultural Festival which is now being confirmed for January 2014. Now that Australia has secured the rights to the 2013 event, the process is now underway to select the host city for the staging of the world event.

Furthermore to make this event distinctive, participants will be dressed in cultural costumes from countries of origin of martial arts or don their best martial arts attire and as such, we will be requiring stallholders and performers to do the same. Furthermore, all areas of the festival will have martial arts displays, draped with many flags, continuous live entertainment and traditional icons found from throughout the world where martial arts are practiced. In addition to this, the event will host cultural dancing & performances and cultural cuisine from all parts of the world and as such we are now in the process of seeking stallholders both in the area of food, arts and crafts and from community groups. We will also provide martial arts workshops and training sessions for interested individuals which will be all interactive. The festival will not only showcase martial arts from Asia but also from all parts of the world. We will be endeavouring to provide a full cultural experience through martial arts.

A huge marketing campaign has begun to promote the events as well as sponsorship and cooperation from local authorities and tourism in relation for the bidding process for the international event. We would like to emphasize that each of these events are set to be held during school holidays and as such ideal and designed for all age groups as family outings over two days.
