  • Richmond-Petersburg, VA (1888PressRelease) April 29, 2020 - The Brandon Howard for Hopewell Ward 5 City Council 2020 campaign will be holding a virtual campaign rally Thursday, May 7th at 7 pm to keep in touch with city residents while adhering to social distancing standards. Because this is such an important election where we have the potential to enact term limits to add some urgency to the work of city council, it is imperative that all available time be utilized by the campaign to speak to residents and cater future policies around their needs.

Some of the issues discussed during the last virtual rally included lowering crime, improving our school system which ranks among the lowest in the state, how Brandon would handle a pandemic similar to covid19, especially with its potential to return this fall. Other topics were handling high levels of drug abuse in Hopewell and balancing our budget. Feedback came on some of these topics that will be reviewed by the team for the next rally along with some new topics.

From chairing the Hopewell Republican Committee to being one of the most active gun rights supporters here in as the founder of Right to Bear Arms Virginia, Brandon has been dedicated to serving the city of Hopewell for years. During the 2018 election season Brandon was instrumental in exposing the corruption within the city’s electoral board in having two of the members removed along with the then City Registrar. The same went for standing up to state delegate Mark Levine by protesting House Bill 961, which would have automatically made a large amount of legal gun owners in Virginia felons at the stroke of a pen.

The Brandon Howard campaign, which launched in December 2019 has demonstrated its support for the second amendment with a gun giveaway for its campaign supporters. After the first 200 donations of $25 or greater, a Diamondback AR15 was given away in a raffle with a Taurus 1911 being the next to be given away after the next 200 donations of $25 or greater come in. From education to public safety, fiscal responsibility and economic development, these are all things Brandon Howard looks forward to working on when elected the next ward 5 city councilmember in Hopewell.

Questions for the virtual rally need to be sent to the campaign Communications Director JaVonni Brustow at javonni ( @ ) brandonwhoward dot com
