The Box Appeal 2011 aims to help 10,000 people across the region

  • (1888PressRelease) August 18, 2011 - Radisson Blu Hotel, Cairo Heliopolis will take part in this campaign for the first time alongside 12 other Radisson Blu and Park Inn hotels in the UAE, Bahrain and Oman. In the UAE the boxes are distributed to labourers. In Cairo, Oman and Bahrain each country has decided who would benefit most from receiving a box, be it the poor, the hungry, orphans or labourers. The items in the box are changed accordingly.

    The Box Appeal asks people to give back to those who need it most by filling a small box with a list of everyday. To take part all participants have to do is pick up a box from the Radisson Blu hotel in Cairo, fill the box with the requested items and return it. The boxes in Cairo will be split between three different groups.

    The majority of the boxes collected will go to Hope Village Street kids, providing them with useful equipment for school like copybooks, pencils, geometry equipments, pencil case, lunch box and coloring pencils.

    In addition, a portion of the boxes will be donated to six families in the 3ezbet khairallah region, providing them with much needed food supplies like meat, chicken, rice, pasta, tomato sauce, sugar and Ramadan pastries. And lastly some boxes will be given to schools housekeeping workers. The boxes will provide them with items such as slippers, towels, bed sheets, dental kit, shower gel, comb, body lotion and a lufa.

    "As a company we have a long history of responsible business. It seems fitting to take this campaign region wide this year and help as many people as possible. It only takes a little time and effort to make a big difference," said Marko Hytonen, Area Vice President, Rezidor Hotel Group.

    The Box Appeal was initially founded by Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai, Media City, the first campaign was such a success in the following years Radisson Blu and Park Inn Hotels in Abu Dhabi Yas Island also joined the campaign. Over the four years the appeal has run, over 20,000 boxes have been donated, the equivalent of 4 million AED

    Due to The Box Appeal's growing success across the region the campaign has been given a new look and brand by Dubai based design agency North55. The creative agency designed a new logo that captures the essence of the appeal, giving the campaign a unique identity.

    Radisson Blu and Park Inn Hotels are managed by Rezidor Hotel Group.
