  • (1888PressRelease) July 24, 2020 - Washington, D.C. - “On behalf of the Board of Directors, members and affiliates of the Bar Association of the District of Columbia (“BADC”), we congratulate the Honorable Anita Josey-Herring on her appointment as the new Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court,” said Kevin D, Judd, Esq., president of the BADC. President Judd also noted: “Since joining the Bench in 1997, Judge Josey-Herring has been widely recognized for her leadership, temperament and integrity.” The import of this judicial appointment is historic, because Judge Josey-Herring becomes the first woman to serve as Chief Judge of the D.C. Superior Court since the court’s
    establishment by Congress in 1970.

President Judd also expressed the BADC’s “profound gratitude to the outgoing D.C. Superior Court Chief Judge, the Honorable Robert E. Morin, for his leadership and service to the bench, bar and community at-large. Judge Morin has served as Chief Judge since 2016, and his stewardship of the court, particularly in these difficult and trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic, has been outstanding.”
