London's famous Waterloo station has welcomed the latest, fabulous Sports Bar and Grill restaurant, with help from the Architects Corporation Ltd.
- (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2012 - The Architects Corporation Ltd were responsible for the initial design and gaining Landlord's consent for the Sports Bar & Grill, which is now part of a landmark new balcony refurbishment in Britain's busiest train station. Waterloo station in South London handles 88 million train journeys each year, and despite having a greater floor area than any other station in the UK, there were concerns about pedestrian overcrowding and congestion within the present buildings, which date back to 1922.
A solution was completed in July, with retail and food outlets located to a new 220m long balcony, making use of nearly 2,000m2 of first floor former office space and providing additional escalators and walkways to Waterloo East. The Balcony is the home of a new fourth branch of London based Sports Bar & Grill. Completed with help from the Architects Corporation Ltd within a 12 week fit out programme, it has been claimed the new branch "raised the bar in terms of design and features".
Design elements include an impressive open plan kitchen and restaurant, with plenty of space for 45 diners, and a central antique copper-clad bar with seating for non-dining visitors. Time zone clocks from Olympic Cities across the world and 19 state-of-the-art 55" TV screens showing sport in HD accompany the restaurant's award winning burgers. Free WiFi and power points are provided for laptops and mobile phone chargers to assist commuters.
