  • (1888PressRelease) August 30, 2022 - THAI held “The Magical Journey” press conference to officially launch the newest Thai Airways International flight service to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Jeddah is known as the gate to Mecca, and is a popular vacation destination. Present at THAI’s Head Office for the reception was Mr. Piyasvasti Amranand, THAI Chairman of the Plan Administrators, who presided over the launch.

    Also in attendance was Mr. Suvadhana Sibunruang, THAI’s acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Chansin Treenuchagron, THAI Plan Administrator, and various other THAI executives and media were present as honorary guests.

    The newly launched flights from Bangkok to Jeddah mark the first commercial THAI flight service to Saudi Arabia in 32 years.

    The national airline began four weekly flights between Bangkok and Jeddah, with flights each Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday:

    -TG Flight 503 departs from Bangkok at 18.45, and arrives in Jeddah at 22.40 hours (local time).

    -TG Flight 504 departs from Jeddah at 00.40 hours (local time).

    With the new flight service, THAI aims to improve relations between Saudi Arabia and Thailand, through the promotion of economic and tourism development in both countries. THAI also continues to accommodate the demand for pilgrimage flights, having historically operated special Hajj pilgrimage flights to Mecca and Medina dating back to 2005.

    Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) members, THAI’s frequent flyer program, who travel on the new route may earn up to 1,000 miles per flight on Royal Silk class, and 500 miles per flight for economy passengers.
