  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) April 20, 2011 - The refurbished website, located at http://www.legalethicstexas.com, is part of a revamp of TCLE's online assets, including the creation of the organization's first blog, "On the Merits," and the launch of several new online educational courses.

"At the Texas Center for Legal Ethics, we realize that the pace is quickening for lawyers, who already have a lot on their plates," says Jonathan Smaby, executive director of TCLE. "The number of attorneys in Texas grows each year. This website redesign helps quickly direct them to the legal coursework they need to stay current."

All lawyers are required to have at least 15 hours a year in Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits, three of which are in ethics. To that end, the redesigned website has incorporated new video ethics training.

"TCLE is the pre-eminent Texas resource in discussing legal ethics," Mr. Smaby says. "Our redesigned website advances our mission to educate both legal professionals and the general public on the highest legal and ethical standards."

TCLE is in a unique position in Texas legal training because all individuals who pass the Texas Bar must complete TCLE's Justice James A. Baker Guide to the Basics of Law Practice course. The website redesign is meant to aid attorneys in satisfying that basic requirement while making them aware of the full scope of resources offered by TCLE.

Founded in 1989 by three retired Texas Supreme Court chief justices, TCLE promotes the values contained in the Texas Lawyers' Creed. The group pursues the original vision of its founders as the leading storehouse of knowledge and resources for ethics and professionalism in Texas.
