TenMarks Education added one of the nation's top names in education reform to its board today, as it aims to positively impact the lives of more than 20 million students in the next five years. Former Washington DC Deputy Mayor for Education Victor Reinoso will be advising TenMarks Education as it continues to develop its online math and science programs.

"President Obama made it very clear in his State of the Union address. We must improve math and science education if we want to maintain our economic strength in the 21st century," said Reinoso. "Online programs like TenMarks are key to this, by helping students of all backgrounds and skill-sets build the math and science skills they need for a bright future."

TenMarks' personalized and dynamic online curriculum provides students with a sense of accomplishment as they learn to truly understand math and science principles. Its math program is already in use at thousands of schools and by hundreds of thousands of students across the country.

"Guidance from leaders like Victor is critical as we work to enhance the way millions of students learn," said TenMarks Education Co-founder Andrew Joseph. "He is one of the premier education reformers in the country, someone who truly understands the challenges that lie ahead. He is also someone who knows how to take action to meet these challenges. We are thrilled about working with Victor to help millions of our students build a strong foundation in math and science."

As Deputy Mayor for Education, Reinoso led the most aggressive turnaround of a major school system, taking it from a struggling system to one with tremendous academic gains. He oversaw the city's $1.3 billion education budget and helped lead it out of the academic doldrums by recruiting Michelle Rhee as chancellor. Under Reinoso and Rhee, the Washington D.C. school system showed double-digit improvements in math and reading test scores as well as graduation rates.

Prior to taking over as Deputy Mayor for Education, Reinoso served on the Washington D.C. Board of Education. He has also acted as a top executive at the Federal City Council and at RadioFutura, a venture-backed radio distribution service. Reinoso is a graduate of Georgetown University and the MIT Sloan School of Management.
