  • (1888PressRelease) February 05, 2011 - Leading dental recruitment agency Tempdent welcomed news from UCAS that students are rushing to take up places on UK university dental courses. The number of successful applications for dental training at UK universities was up by 2.5% before Christmas 2010. The rise is attributed to applicants hoping to beat the tuition fee increase due on 2012.

The number of applications for dental training and medicine rose overall in 2010 by 3.5% with many applicants over the age of 20 and as such, competition for places was reportedly fierce. Tempdent gave a positive reaction the news:

"We are not surprised at the numbers applying, since UK dental training offers particularly high standards. It mirrors our experience as we provide high quality dental CPD and we are the only dental recruitment agency offering entry level training for dental nurses and practice receptionists. We have certainly seen strong applicant numbers during the last year. Our courses are so popular that students come from abroad to study with us. The exciting aspect for us is that these numbers demonstrate dentistry is valued as a premier career. In our experience, candidates these days tend to be highly astute when it comes to their career options. Today they are acknowledging dentistry as a very rewarding career path".

As well as entry level courses, Tempdent also offer post-graduate training for dental nurses leading to the Certificate in Oral Hygiene from the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses. There is also a range of other dental CPD options for dental nurses to be able comply with the new requirements of the General Dental Council following Statutory Regulation. Tempdent also offer training for overseas qualified dentists and a comprehensive recruitment service for dentists, dental nurses and hygienists, receptionists and practice managers. The team have seen dental study change over the years:

"Our work has always addressed the real life day to day needs of UK dental professionals and practices, right from entry level training to dental recruitment. When we first began offering training in the 1990s, it was our response to having worked in the industry and knowing there were skills gaps we could address. Fast forward to today and we are extremely pleased that new candidates are applying in such great numbers to enter the profession, as dentists, dental nurses and hygienists and in vital practice administration roles. We believe dentistry is a vital and rewarding profession and the great news is that this message is obviously being carried through to the next generation of dental professionals. "

Potential students interested in entry-level or post-graduate dental CPD can contact the team for career advice, including help to differentiate between the various courses. Guidance on the core aspects of each career route includes matching the applicant's needs to the correct course, to leave students ready for work with the correct skills for their chosen path. The staff at Tempdent work with a hands on approach and fully understand your professional needs.
