  • (1888PressRelease) December 19, 2019 - Mumbai – Tata Asset Management has announced the launch of Tata Focused Equity Fund. This open-ended equity scheme will invest in a concentrated portfolio of up to 30 stocks across market caps (i.e. Multicap).

The benchmark for Tata Focused Equity Fund will be S&P BSE 200 TRI and will be managed by Rupesh Patel.

Rupesh Patel, senior fund manager at Tata Mutual Fund said that, "The fund aims to construct a portfolio of stocks on bottom up basis following the GARP—Growth At Reasonable Price philosophy. The fund will follow multi cap approach without having any particular market cap bias or sector bias. The tilt towards any particular market cap or sector will be purely incidental and would be a result of stock selection. The objective is to have stocks based on their relative risk-reward opportunity and fundamental attributes. Further, from a Risk Management point of view, we would aim to maintain optimal liquidity."

The New Fund Offering (NFO) is open for subscription from 15th November 2019.

About the TATA Focused Equity Fund NFO Campaign:

The TATA Focused Equity Fund NFO campaign attempts to Take the Blur out of investing in Mutual Funds.

What you buy and how much of it you buy – both are important for a winning portfolio. A multibagger in a portfolio with a very small weight does not serve any meaningful purpose.

This Fund invests in a portfolio of up to 30 Equity stocks – high conviction ideas backed by meaningful allocation. High concentration helps as exceptional performance of a few stocks compensates for underperformance of others, increasing the chances of decent overall portfolio returns. Stocks are selected assessing attributes of long runway for growth, ability to grow earnings sustainably, efficient capital management and are run by competent
management teams. The fund will be a multi-cap fund with no market cap bias or sector preferences and importantly, a low churn construct.

The AMC has launched a multi-media campaign for this fund. The campaign has a universal appeal across language, age, gender, location and also to all types investors - including those testing waters.

The TVC features a protagonist who seems to have trouble viewing things. The ophthalmologist is the metaphor for the fund house or the distribution channel - IFA / Banks / Online Platforms and National Level Distributors. He helps take the "blur" out by defogging the content with Tata Focused Equity fund.

MVS Murthy, Head Marketing and Digital Communications, Tata Asset Management, said that, "Taking the blur out needs to be seen and not heard. Hence, we created a silent film. The other idea was that a visual narrative will always have common denominator of understanding. Thus, not only seasoned investors or folks in the metros, but also, first time investors and those in tier 2, tier 3 cities, would have an opportunity to connect. We are focused on helping the industry bring new investors from newer geographies. The effort is towards creating an inertial shift. “
