  • Memphis, TN-AR-MS (1888PressRelease) February 20, 2013 - In January 2013, Tim Tanner and Kip Meyer, former owners of three curtain stores in Memphis and Nashville for nearly a decade, re-opened the Memphis location under the new name TannerMeyer Drapery, Bedding, & Blinds.

In 2012, the Nashville location was sold to a well-known designer and Kip Meyer returned to Memphis to fine tune the new business with Tanner. "For years we have been asking our customers what is most important to them when shopping for designer drapery, bedding, and blinds. Of course selection, price, and quality are important, but at the end of the day the resounding answer is MAKE IT EASY," said Meyer.

The two spent months re-engineering their predominantly in-stock and custom curtain panel store into a full service window treatment, bedding, and design hub. According to Tanner, "The process for designing high quality window treatments and bedding is a very daunting one. Often times it is best left to designers. What we did was spend a great deal of time assembling products from all over the world into a digestible selection of the latest products and styles. We also simplify the often-overwhelming process and provide you with a one-stop shop for designer caliber drapery, bedding, and blinds. Our system has been refined, and our designers are trained to walk our clients through a very easy process that gives them the desired look they want without all the hassle."

When asked what makes their new business different from the previous, Meyer said, "We've added 15,000 new drapery and upholstery fabrics, several bedding lines, the largest drapery hardware selection in town, and the most comprehensive collection of blind/shade/shutter displays in the MidSouth.

We also categorized all of our products into 3 different price points: budget, designer, and custom, which appeals to a broader audience. In addition, we are true window and bedding experts in these categories with nearly a decade of experience and thousands of happy clients." "Some of the most costly design mistakes can be window treatments and bedding related," Tanner added, "This is why even designers like to work with us and trust us to help their clients."

So what are their future plans now that they have re-named and re-branded? Tanner said, "I've seen way too many companies "grow" themselves out of business. We nearly did the same with 3 stores during the recession. Being the best there is at our "niche" is more important than trying to be all things to everybody."
Tanner and Meyer also believe the key to their past and continued success is the caliber, knowledge, and customer service skills of their employees. "For the rest of 2013 we plan to continue to hone in on our niche, improve our turnaround time, and focus on great customer service. We also have a design blog in the works and a program to promote our products through designers locally, as well as designers in Arkansas and Mississippi," said Meyer.

    Kip Meyer's Bio
Kip has been in the design field for over 10 years. He first started out learning how to sew on a second hand sewing machine, along with lessons by his next-door neighbor. Soon he was a human sewing and embroidery machine. While vacationing in Florida he just happened to walk into a unique drapery boutique. Immediately he knew this concept would work in Memphis, and he left his lucrative Marketing job to fulfill a dream of owning his own business. Two months later, along with his partner Tim Tanner, the first location was opened in the Laurelwood area of Memphis. A year later the second location was opened in the Green Hills section of Nashville. In 2008 an outlet and consignment location was opened. Today, many celebrities, titans of business, and politicians have Kip on speed dial. Kip's reputation in Nashville and Memphis is stellar and he continues to exceed client's expectations daily. His superior leadership and customer service skills are an inspiration to his staff, and he truly believes that his success is also a result of his quality employees.
