Tallahassee climbing crew helps Destin homeowners with storm trees after Hurricane Isaias
Reed Tree Service, based in Tallahassee, has a climbing crew working in Destin and the Emerald Coast after Hurricane Isaias, rigging down storm-damaged trees where large equipment and ground crews cannot reach.
- Fort Walton Beach-Crestview-Destin, FL (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2026 - A Tallahassee tree crew is working in Destin and along the Emerald Coast after Hurricane Isaias, taking down storm-damaged trees that bigger equipment and volunteer chainsaw teams can't safely reach. Reed Tree Service LLC, owned by Josh Reed, is based in Tallahassee and serves North Florida and South Georgia. Its climbers handle the trees that worry homeowners most after a hurricane: oaks leaning over a roof, limbs hanging above a pool cage, and trees in tight lots where a truck or large machine has no room to set up.
Those jobs depend on a person in the tree. The climber ties off, cuts the tree apart in sections and lowers each piece on ropes, so nothing drops onto the house, the cage or the fence below. A chainsaw volunteer working from the ground can clear a driveway, but a tree sitting on a structure is a different problem. A crane needs open ground and a clear path, and many Destin-area lots offer neither.
"After a storm the first question is usually whether anyone can get to the tree at all," said Cole Williams, Reed Tree Service. "When the answer is no, climbing is how it gets done. You rig the tree down piece by piece and protect what is underneath."
Homeowners with a damaged tree should keep people and vehicles away from it and stay clear of any tree touching a power line. Reed Tree Service takes calls Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
