  • (1888PressRelease) March 13, 2007 - Sydney, 13 March 2007 – vRoam Global, the Australian leader in mobile roaming services for travellers, has launched a new prepaid roaming service, GlobalSIM. vRoam’s GlobalSIM prepaid service offers savings of up to 80% on mobile phone roaming costs, in more than 100 countries globally.

The vRoam prepaid GlobalSIM service provides travellers with a SIM card with its own overseas number. Travellers going to a number of countries are now able to use this single prepaid simcard to control their roaming spend.

Danny Nathanson, vRoam CEO, said: “As GlobalSIM can be used in more than 100 countries it is ideal for people visiting a number of destinations who want the convenience of a single prepaid simcard.” “There is no need to buy a number of costly prepaid starter packs in each country as the single simcard can simply be topped up” he added.

Nathanson said: “Your regular mobile service provider is focused on your use in Australia, while vRoam specialises in minimizing your costs when you travel overseas.”

GlobalSIM allows all calls to be made at very reasonable rates, and slashes the much more expensive international roaming charges. Other benefits include free incoming calls in most countries, and an average 60% reduction in mobile roaming charges while in the country you are visiting.

The single number with its own voicemail means that you can easily remain contactable throughout the world. You can send and receive SMS messages.

The service does not affect existing relationships with Australian mobile phone carriers.

As an Australian company, vRoam is focused on ensuring the best rates for calls back home. The approximate cost to call from most European countries to Australia is US$1.00 per minute. A starter pack is US$75 including US$50 worth of calls. Top–up cards are available in US$20 and US$50 denominations.

GlobalSIM complements the innovative postpaid service that vRoam already offers, primarily for business travellers which reduces roaming costs while enabling the traveller to remain contactable on their normal Australian number.
