  • (1888PressRelease) December 24, 2010 - The acquisition does not include Axept Business Software AG. The parties to the deal agreed not to disclose information on the purchase price.

The acquisition of Axept will enable Swisscom to further expand its expertise and market position in the engineering and operation of software-based unified communications and collaboration solutions. As an independent subsidiary of Swisscom, Axept will continue to focus on its current market activities. The company name, brand identity, organisation and management will remain the same. The acquisition does not include Axept Business Software AG, a sister company of Axept AG specialising in business software solutions.

Founded in 1997, Axept AG is a leading Swiss ICT service provider specialising in consulting and engineering. Headquartered in Glattbrugg, the company employs around 90 staff at three locations, Glattbrugg (ZH), Schönbühl (BE) and Reinach (BL), and in fiscal 2009/10 generated revenue of CHF 26 million. The acquisition will benefit Swisscom's core business in messaging and collaboration solutions and infrastructure engineering as well as other areas. The affiliation with Swisscom will enable Axept to supplement its portfolio with one-stop network and telephony services, for example.

Over the long term the new ownership structure will open up additional growth opportunities for ICT service provider Axept AG. As an independent subsidiary of Swisscom, Axept has the foundations on which to further develop its activities in Switzerland in the field of managed services. Axept CEO Daniel Staehelin is convinced that this would not have been feasible without such cooperation: "Joining forces with Swisscom will open up market opportunities which would not be possible if we were to go it alone. We now possess the requisite strength to play a role in the managed services business. We will also be able to develop attractive comprehensive solutions in all areas. This will ensure our success over the long term."

The deal will strengthen Swisscom's corporate business and its position as a provider of unified communications and collaboration solutions. Above all, the specialists at Axept will broaden Swisscom's consulting and integration expertise and facilitate the transfer of in-depth technical know-how. Urs Schaeppi, Head of Swisscom Corporate Business, is looking forward very much to working with Axept: "Thanks to Axept AG and its employees we will now have access to additional, specialist knowledge in the engineering of complex ICT workplaces and server-based unified communications and collaboration solutions. Axept also possesses proven expertise in the operation and support of such systems."
