  • (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2010 - ITServe Alliance, a consortium of IT consulting companies in the United States, has been actively lobbying against the new H1B visa rules proposed by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The organization has been holding a number of meetings to share their concerns with the senators. It is also taking constructive actions to resolve the issues amicably.

Sudhakar Pennam, the CEO of Cigniti and a founder member of ITServe Alliance has been leading these initiatives. The recent discussion with Bob Thompson convened on April 7, 2010 was a part of this series.

The meeting was also attended by Satish Manduva, Gopi Kandukuri and Vic Peram, active members of ITServe Alliance.

The discussion explored various avenues to organize meetings with the senators opposing the H1B program and educate them about the challenges which IT firms are likely to face. Mr. Thompson promised to arrange meetings with Senator John Coronyn and Senator Schumer.

The other important topic discussed was the cost of the lobbying effort. The team agreed on a proposed cost of $10,000 per month, for a test period three months, to see the results of the lobbying efforts.

Led by Pennam, the ITServe Alliance members also met Eddie B. Johnson and compiled two letters for the Congresswoman's office with the help of Emily Neumann, Attorney from Reddy & Neumann.

The letters highlighted the importance of the H1B program to the US Economy and focused on the effects and proposals to improve the Employee-Employer relationship memo.

Further, ITServe members rallied and collaborated with other technology alliances to come up with an intelligent response for request for comments by USCIS on the proposed new I-129.

Sudhakar Pennam and other ITServe Alliance members were instrumental in making this endeavor a success.
