  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2011 - BeLive is proud to announce the 2011 initiative of the Mochila Wayuu Project that will once again take 40 hand-woven Mochilas, created by the Wayuu community in Guajira, and have them reworked by some of the world's most prominent fashion designers. The project benefits indigenous communities in Colombia and is a follow-up to the successful inaugural 2009 project. .

    The special one-of-a-kind mochilas will be available for purchase on online luxury retailer Moda Operandi and at a silent auction at BeLive's 5th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday November 17 at The Ritz-Carlton South Beach. Designers involved in this round's project include Yves Saint Laurent, Givenchy, Christian Dior, Christian Louboutin, Herve Leger, Helmut Lang, Adolfo Dominguez, Theskeyns Theory, and many more. In 2009, the project raised over $100,000 and significant international awareness of the pressing needs of these indigenous peoples of Colombia.

    BeLive is honored to announce that Lauren Santo Domingo will serve as the 2011 BeLive Gala Chair, which continues her past involvement as the 2009 Mochila Wayuu Project "Godmother." Lauren will again be spearheading this initiative, which combines the masterful artisanal work of these tribeswomen with the most recognizable names in fashion today.

    Lauren Santo Domingo is considered an authority in the fashion world. A fashion stylist and Contributing Editor for Vogue, Lauren began her career as an assistant at Vogue, working under Anna Wintour and quickly worked her way up to Associate Market Editor. In 2006, she was appointed Contributing Editor and today is the Co-Founder and Creative Director of Moda Operandi. Moda Operandi is the first online luxury fashion retailer to allow members to pre-order tomorrow's styles today. Working closely with the world's top designers, Moda Operandi provides fashion trendsetters with access to complete collections from the finest brands- including exclusive ready-to-wear, accessories and jewelry - immediately following their runway show.     The mochilas will be available at silent auction at BeLive's 5th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday November 17th at the Ritz Carlton South Beach. Attendees will be able to bid on the special mochilas using BidPal, a handheld device pre-loaded with every mochila, its value and bid increments. Guests will have the opportunity to browse the silent auction area, view items on their personal BidPal, and bid from anywhere at any time during the event.

    The 5th Anniversary of BeLive will take place on Thursday, November 17 at The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. BeLive BeLive is joined by four important Colombian Non- Profit organizations, based in the U.S: Give to Colombia, Fórmula Sonrisas, Genesis Foundation and ArtNexus Foundation, who have joined forces to raise much needed funds and create awareness within the international community, of the dire social needs in Colombia.
