  • (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2012 - The study conducted by the Kauffman Foundation reveals that the number of Tech start-ups founded in Silicon Valley is on decline due to decline in demand for H1B Visas. The observation of Fortune 500 companies in US lead to derivation of the fact that more than one third of the founder entrepreneurs of Fortune 500 companies from US are either immigrants or their family members.

The fraction of Tech start-ups of Silicon Valley fell from 52 per cent to 44 percent in 2005. As the American Technology continues to loose its edge of innovation, the entrepreneurial decline too is on roll due to lack of immigration reforms.
Charles Small, a San Francisco immigration attorney whose clients include Bay Area universities and tech start-ups observed, 'the reality is that other countries are welcoming scientists, researchers, educators and entrepreneurs who would otherwise prefer to remain in the U.S resulting in loss for American Innovation and Entrepreneurial Sector. The United Kingdom, Germany, Canada, Switzerland, France, and a few South American nations have focused on courting both STEM professionals and immigrant entrepreneurs quite aggressively.

Observations bring out the fact that growth of the Silicon Valley around Stanford University was no accident. Immigrants nurtured at American universities turned in to innovators who have founded tech giants like Cisco Systems Inc. to Google Inc.
World-class research universities of U.S enroll only the world-class students. This eventually results in the Universities being incubators of many innovations and bright ideas of the cream class immigrant students. These innovations and ideas eventually rise as large technology giants that employ thousands of Americans and others. Elite research universities of U.S churn out thousands of such innovators every year.

Current U.S. immigration policy instead of attracting such immigrants is making it far more difficult for them to even stay in the country. U.S government soon needs to shift its perspective and change its immigration policies and make the highly skilled immigrants stay here after receiving their degrees.

The Kauffman report is absolute loud and clear that immigration reform are required to not just maintain United States innovative edge but also to more immigrants with fire in their belly and ambition in their hearts to start their own companies.
As on one hand the technically trained employees will help U.S. ventures stay competitive today, the entrepreneurs will pave the path for high-paying jobs of tomorrow. On one hand as American economy needs a greater number of skilled workers, start-up employment trends suggest entrepreneurs are required as well. Now, since the elections are over, hope some positive immigration reforms to help US are on its way.
