  • (1888PressRelease) April 20, 2013 - Bangalore: As part of the CSR initiative of the T. John Group of Institutions, the second and fourth semester students of BA Journalism, English Literature and Psychology recently visited the internationally renowned SOS Children's village at Hulimavu, Bangalore. They were accompanied by the psychology lecturer Mrs. Nagarathna Dewakar and language department faculty Mrs. Mariamma John. The organization has over 133 branches all over the world holding a towering position in protecting the privileges of under societal children across the world. There were almost 161 children in the village who were each given a foster mother who takes care of them. The objective behind the visit was to create awareness amongst the students on the ground realities of life and encourage them to actively volunteer in such noble causes.

The students were taken around the serene premises by the officer of the organization who helped in clarifying the doubts of the students and in providing a better understanding about it. The students went out of their way to interact with the children - spoke to them, listened to their stories, played games and sang along with them at the NGO. They were all overwhelmed by the experience in the SOS children's village and appreciated the intense work done by these NGO'S in providing the best amenities and care to these children. They were also notably proud about their Institution's large-heartedness to reach out to such organizations and support them. Such an experience just added more to the value based learning that is promised by T. John College to all their students.
