While the project has been completed for a few months, the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Saturday, June 2, 2012 in conjunction with National Trails Day. The Swift Creek Greenway, a 1.03-mile trail constructed of recycled asphalt, is the nation's first greenway built completely with recycled products. Stewart Engineering, the design consultant for this project, dedicated the greenway along with the Town of Cary's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department.
