  • (1888PressRelease) October 15, 2011 - The Project, an initiative of three St Andrews university students, aims to provide up to date, relevant and witty commentary, factual reporting and a 'students view' on the news most relevant to the universities student population - namely sport, fashion and lifestyle!

Having identified a niche for such a site and noting the efforts of other universities to do the same, the three entrepreneurial students set about building themselves a team of editors, reporters and photographers to gather, supply and publish a continuous stream of content for their readers. At 10 pm yesterday the site went live with a bang at the launch partly and ever since the sites been buzzing with activity.

Key to the success of this project was having a site that was user-friendly, modern and up to date with the demands of the users age group. The students were adamant from the outset that the site had to look and feel perfect and work in a way instantly familiar to users. It had to be all about social medial. "Facebook and Twitter are how people get their news now. - It's what people are used to", said the student leading The Stand project, "Working with these sites rather than against them is exactly how we will make this site a success".

Working closely with their design team The Constant Media (http://www.theconstantmedia.com), a UK based web design, development and marketing company who specialise in social media sites, The Stand team have certainly managed to fullfill all of their objectives. Oliver Helm, a Director at The Constant Media said, "The Stand came to us with an idea we immediately recognised as great. It checked all the boxes for a successful, social media style site, driven by user demand - everything we love. By getting involved in the project we've not only delivered a site we are proud of but been able to help encourage entrepreneurship and self initiative in students - something we think to be vital and a believe we hold a the core of our business. We will be working closely with The Stand for the foreseeable future, helping them to grow the site to it's full potential through social media, advertising revenue and the more conventional content channels. We can't wait to see what ideas will come to the table next."

With the focus now well and truly on generating excellent content, the site is set to grow fast. The site is available on line at http://www.stand-news.co.uk - check out the buzz.
