  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) June 26, 2015 - Wendy Friswell, Executive Director of the local nonprofit organization Spirit of Giving, was recently awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellowship Award by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) for her generosity in charitable donations to the foundation. Friswell, who has spent countless hours dedicating herself to helping others, was surprised with the award at a recent Spirit of Giving board members meeting presented by Lions Clubs Florida District representative Hazel McIntyre.

"We want to congratulate Wendy on her achievement with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Through her work with Lions Clubs International as well as Spirit of Giving, Wendy is an example of an extraordinarily selfless person, constantly working to better the lives of those in her community and beyond," McIntyre said.

"It is a great honor to receive this award," Friswell said. "Lions Clubs International is an exemplary humanitarian organization, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to contribute to a greater cause helping fund programs for those in need around the world."

Recipients of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award are recognized for their humanitarian work and have contributed at least $1,000 to the Lions Clubs International Foundation. Donations of $1,000 or greater make up 75% of the foundations revenue, which comes from over 1.4 million Lions members in more than 210 countries and geographic areas. Without donations, Lions Clubs International would not be able to implement their large-scale humanitarian efforts throughout the world - from combating vision problems to offering aid after major natural disasters.
