  • Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2012 - Spirit Incentives, designers of innovative travel incentives and benefits products, announced today its involvement with Operation Smile, an organization dedicated to organizing fund raising activities for surgeries to heal the smiles of children with cleft lips and cleft palates.

One of the efforts Spirit Incentives has contributed to date was a silent auction held in July. Employees had the opportunity to hear a moving speech delivered by visitor Dr. Drew Schnitt, a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon who himself has led multiple international trips and performed a number of cleft surgeries. Following Dr. Schnitt's visit a silent auction took place in which several items were held for bidding; 100% percent of the $2,930 collected was donated to Operation Smile.

Spirit Incentives was able to duplicate another successful with their Halloween Raffle, held on October 31st. The raffle consisted of company donated incentives and gift cards. Employees purchased tickets to have a chance of winning one of six prizes. The goal was to raise $480, enough to provide two children with lifesaving surgeries. Spirit Incentives raised $1,704, enough for seven surgeries.

During the company's annual Holiday party, employees and guests enjoyed a casino style Blackjack game, donations were accepted in exchange for playing chips. The winner received a two night hotel stay. Through this event, Spirit Incentives was able to raise an additional $315.

To date, Spirit Incentives has raised $4,949 for the cause. Gary Baron, CEO, commented "We feel strongly about Operation Smile for many reasons, but primarily a small donation changes a child's life forever. Unlike many charities, Operation Smile passes a majority of the money directly to the children's surgery. The doctors, nurses and others who work with Operation Smile all donate their services and time. Without this kind of help, in many cases a cleft palate could be a fatal outcome for these kids. I am overwhelmed with the amazing support our staff has given to this great cause."
