  • (1888PressRelease) January 04, 2013 - The Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olugbenga Ashiru has been confirmed as Special Guest of Honour at a special colloquium being put together by the management of CMC Connect Limited (Perception Managers) to commemorate the 50th birthday anniversary of Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, the Managing Director of the company.

    The colloquium themed: Managing Nigeria's Image: Whose Responsibility? is scheduled for 10am, Tuesday January 8, at the Agip Recital Hall, MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

    A keynote address will be delivered by the Honourable Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku while former Foreign Affairs Minister, Major General Ike Nwachukwu (rtd), CFR, will Chair the event.

    In a statement released by Mr. Sola Solotan, Acting Head of Media, CMC Connect, the colloquium is part of activities lined up to celebrate Mr. Badejo Okusanya who, in his words "has contributed in no small measure to the growth of Public Relations in Nigeria and the whole of Africa".

    The colloquium, the statement further says, will be a convergent point for integrated marketing communications professionals and institutions in Nigeria whose core focus area includes communications and image management. It will explore issues and factors that shape Nigeria's image and proffer solutions to such communications challenges.

    Several captains of industry are part of an impressive faculty of discussants who have been constituted to x-ray the issues being discussed.

    This includes former Minister of Information, Professor Dora Akunyili, the President of the Newspapers Proprietors Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and Publisher of Thisday Newspapers, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, the Chairman of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON and Managing Director of Prima Garnet, Mr. Lolu Akinwunmi and the Managing Director of Guinness, Mr. Seni Adetu.

    Others are the Head of Mass Communication Department, University of Lagos, Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Alhaji Muhammed Abdulahi, and the Chairperson, Women in Management Business & Public Service who is also the Deputy Country Manager, Deutsche Bank in Nigeria, Mrs. Adeola Azeez.
    The outcome of the special colloquium will be developed into a communiqué which will become a reference document for policy development and future constitutional reforms.

    Yomi Badejo-Okusanya is the founder of CMC Connect, and was one time Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Lagos State Chapter. He is currently the Secretary General of African Public Relations Association, APRA.
