  • (1888PressRelease) February 28, 2013 - With so many resources and so much potential, the region is still immature and awaiting businesses to move in and invest; from exploration; to production, skills, transport, education, infrastructure and exports.

The Southern Africa Mining Summit will take place in Cape Town on the 5th & 6th September 2013. It will be the only mining event to focus exclusively on the Southern Africa region featuring a streamed Conference, Exhibition and Networking Evening.

China, India and Japan have spent a significant amount of money on mining minerals, metals and stones in South Africa. South Africa's major exports are unwrought platinum, coal, iron ore, ferroalloys, rolled stainless steel and aluminium.

Transnet- the state owned Transport Company will be investing and redeveloping the rail infrastructure to ensure that the minerals can be delivered to the South Africa Port more efficiently. Transnet aims to deliver 11.7 million tons of manganese by 2018 a substantial increase from the 4.8 million tons delivered in 2011.

Any company that offers products or services to the mining industry would benefit from attending this event due to the diverse networking opportunities and a chance to meet and interact with government delegations from across the region. There is also an opportunity to gain an insight on the best ways to manage licensing and contracting.

As well as focusing intensively on the Southern Africa region-the conference will also cover hot spots in mining in more depth, such as; Angola, Botswana, Democratic Republic of Congo, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
