  • (1888PressRelease) January 19, 2024 - Gift of Life Marrow Registry is urgently seeking a matching blood stem cell or marrow donor for Boca Raton, Fla., resident Robin Soblick. She is a 68-year-old mother, grandmother, and businesswoman who is battling acute myeloid leukemia, a rare form of blood cancer. She is in dire need of a transplant in order to survive.

Soblick does not have a matching donor in her family, so she is turning to the community for support. She is of Eastern European Ashkenazi Jewish descent and her best chance of finding a match is with someone of similar ancestry. Her family is working with Gift of Life Marrow Registry to test volunteer donors to learn if they are a match for Robin or another patient in need. Anyone 18 to 35 years old and in general good health can join the registry with a simple cheek swab.

Soblick’s family, including her husband David, their three children and their spouses, four beautiful grandchildren and extended family, are doing everything they can to support her in her search for a lifesaving hero. Soblick's sister, Jamie Garroway, is working hard to help find a donor.

“By becoming a blood stem cell donor, you have the opportunity to offer a lifeline to Robin,” said Garroway. “Your kind act could bring hope and healing not just to her, but to an entire family that cherishes her.”

To join the Gift of Life registry, donors simply swab the inside of their cheeks and complete a registration questionnaire. Those interested in signing up may request a swab kit to be delivered at home by visiting giftoflife.org/RobinSoblick. To hold a donor recruitment drive, email Gift of Life’s Director of Donor Recruitment Christopher Camacho at ccamacho ( @ ) giftoflife dot org dot

Soblick can also be supported through donations to her family’s fundraising “Donor Circle” campaign. Every gift to this circle helps Gift of Life add new donors to the registry and goes directly toward testing swab kits in order to find matches for Soblick and other patients.

“If you’re healthy and of the right age, please consider joining the registry to help save Robin or another patient battling blood cancer,” said Camacho. “Please also consider making a donation to offset the costs associated with processing the swab kits.”
