Songwriter Going AWOL for
"10 Songs in 10 Days" Challenge

  • (1888PressRelease) December 21, 2012 - Australian songwriter, Max Luther, has only just stepped out of the studio from producing his band's debut release "Neon Scientist". But, already dissatisfied with the break from songwriting and also deeply moved by the recent slaughter in Connecticut, he's heading back to create new material - in a very challenging timeframe - the aim: to write and record 10 songs in 10 days.

Max, says after the Connecticut shooting he's desperate to get back into writing and is putting his day-job on hold in January to do just that, and nothing else.

"I just need to keep moving... I need to process everything that's been happening lately as quickly as I can - I don't want to dip in and out for months like I did with [my band] Staark's album... Sometimes it's like torture to drag it out like that and try to find enough time in a busy schedule."

After the expenses of his band's debut release, Max is partnering with PledgeMusic to crowd-fund the project.

"PledgeMusic is a god-send! I couldn't do it without the support of pledgers, but it also gives me a great platform to share this experience directly with the people who love independent music and the fascinating journey of making that music."

Max plans to travel solo into Northern Australia to a cabin in an undisclosed location of ocean-side wilderness, but will be sharing each day of the journey and experience (including new songs as they emerge) online via video-diaries and downloadable MP3s - exclusive to PledgeMusic supporters.

"I have limited time so I need to totally disappear to do it... My daily life and work [as a designer] is so non-stop busy with so many unavoidable interruptions. So I need the space and solitude to find my muse - to let it all out within the limited time I can spare.

"I'll be meditating, swimming in the ocean each day and using other personal rituals to stay connected with my muse, and I know it will be an incredibly inspiring time that will hopefully produce an equally inspiring album...

"...I actually expect to write a lot more than 10 songs... [but] the final 10 will be chosen by the same people that funded it - I think that's pretty cool... Anyway, I just can't wait to see what happens, see how the songs emerge, and share the whole amazing experience with fans, friends and supporters online!"
