  • (1888PressRelease) March 15, 2019 - Sizdeh Bedar also known as Nature’s day Is an Iranian festival held annually on the thirteenth day of Farvardin (Iranian Persian name for the first month of the Solar Hijri calendar). It marks the end of the Nowruz (iranian new year). The first 12 days of the year is also very important, because they symbolize order in the world and in the lives of people. The 13th day marks the beginning of the return to ordinary daily life.

    Unlike the most common new year festival we all knew, they celebrate the new year with nature and with their friends and loved ones on a picnic instead of lightning up some fireworks. The ritual performed at the end of the picnic day by throwing away the ”sabzeh” (wheat grass).

    This year, the most awaited event is just around the corner. The California Multicultural Society presents the premier event of the year: So Cal Sizdeh Bedar 2019. Sizdeh Bedar is commonly celebrated in Thousand Oaks for more than 30 years, but this year is different. The Sizdeh Bedar event has moved to Moonpark, California and it’s just a minute away from thousand oaks so no worries. The event will be held in March 31, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM

    Sizdeh Bedar will be held at Arroyo Vista Community Park, located at 4550 Tierra Rejada Road in Moorpark, California. The Arroyo Vista Community Park can provide a larger venue for families with 69-acre grounds and onsite parking for as many as 3,500 cars.

    This year’s event will include 2 live musical performances as well as a popular DJ. C.T. Voice from Cabaret Tehran will be the opening act for the live entertainment portion of the program. Persian pop icon singer, songwriter, composer and record producer Siavash Shams, will also be there to perform live. DJ RB’s music will begin at 10:00 AM.

    What to expect?
    Chess tournament is one of the available activities. It will be a formal competition hosted by the Ventura County Chess Club.
    For dog lovers, you can enjoy the doggy area to showcase your dog. Dog competition will be held during the event and it includes “People’s Choice” and “Most Persian Dog.” Be warned, dog must be on a leash at all times to prevent unnecessary accidents.
    The kid’s zone will be managed by professionals and kid’s activities will be available and will cost $1 per child. They also offer shows for kids to help them learn, develop and participate. Activities include playground, bouncy houses, arts and crafts and many more.
