  • (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2020 - Manila, Philippines - The coming of the New Year foretells of renewed hopes, bigger dreams, and better goals. However, the festivity brought about by this event might not be as bright and as promising for a young single mother.

RRD, (full name withheld upon request for privacy) also known to her friends and colleagues as “Sho”, is an accounts personnel at a local office in Paranaque City, Philippines and a single mom in her early twenties.

She started experiencing occasional abdominal pains months back that she suspected as “ordinary stomach cramps”. However, it was during Christmastime last year that the pains came more frequently and were “quite painful”. She sought the advice of a specialist regarding her discomfort.

She found out about her abdominal pains through an ob-gyn as "having a lump in the cervix" that needed urgent medical attention. Myoma was the term used to describe the lump.

“It was dreadful,” she said. “I never thought, not even in my dreams, that I would have this swelling in my cervix. It’s scary,” she added. “I am really scared.”

“I decided to call one of my former colleagues and sought his assistance,” she continued. “I had no other choice but to tell him about my condition and help me with donations. I am running low on my finances and with my daughter in tow, it’s quite a challenge to cope,” she ended.

Sho previously worked for an Australian web hosting services that set up an overseas branch in the Philippines early 2014 but ceased operations 2 ½ years later.

“I really want this myoma removed,” she said in between tears.

When asked about the schedule for her clinical tests, her reply was, “Very soon.”
