  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) November 01, 2013 - Internationally-renowned vocal sextet Singer Pur will perform a program of a cappella music entitled "Fields of Gold: Vocal Music through the Centuries" at the Adelphi University Performing Arts Center (AUPAC) on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 8:00 pm. Widely considered one of the finest vocal ensembles in the world, Singer Pur has garnered international recognition and praise for more than 20 years.

The concert is part of Singer Pur's first tour in the United States. Demonstrating their incredible versatility, Singer Pur will offer music that ranges from the Medieval and Renaissance eras to the present and will give the premiere performances of two sonnets of Petrarch with music by Adelphi composer Christopher Lyndon-Gee. The evening concludes with unique arrangements of traditional folk songs, standards by Irving Berlin and Erroll Garner and the music of Sting.

Singer Pur has thrilled international audiences since 1992, when five former members of the Regensburger Domspatzen cathedral boys' choir started the journey they had long dreamed of-performing a cappella professionally. In 1994, the five men were joined by a soprano, and their international fame took off. To date, Singer Pur has performed in more than 40 countries.

Singer Pur has recorded extensively and their discography now includes 20 albums, many of them award-winning. Three of their albums have been awarded the ECHO Klassik award, one of the most prominent classical music awards in the world. Most recently Singer Pur was awarded the 2013 Bavarian State Prize for Music, a prestigious prize recognizing musicians who have made distinguished contributions or provided innovative ideas to music in Germany.

Singer Pur's members are Claudia Reinhard (soprano), Klaus Wenk, Mark Zapp, Manuel Warwitz (tenors), Reiner Schneider-Waterberg (baritone) and Marcus Schmidl (bass). They are often hailed for this unusual combination of vocal ranges, which lends itself well to their wide repertoire. Numerous living composers have written specifically for the unique musical talents of Singer Pur.
