  • Huntsville, AL (1888PressRelease) June 25, 2019 - Shenanigans Comedy Theatre is a shared vision of three funny, honest, intelligent people who have a heart for the arts and giving back to the community. We want to create a performance and learning space to foster the creative minds in North Alabama and beyond, and provide a venue for showcasing those talents. Shenanigans plans to work with existing shows, show producers and other venues to become a vital, encouraging and collaborative part of the thriving Huntsville comedy scene.

Shenanigans will also partner with independent show producers to bring a variety of programming to our theatre. We will strive to be an encouraging and affordable way to bring creative dreams to life. Producers interested in working with us are encouraged to help us bring this project to life so that this space can be made available for all of us.

A large part of the Shenanigans mission will be to support other nonprofit organizations. Our first partnership will be with the local chapter of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network) whose mission is to create safe and affirming schools for all, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. In April of this year, tragedy hit home when Huntsville High School freshman Nigel Shelby took his own life after being relentlessly bullied for his sexuality, it has become evident that this demographic of people is more in need of our support than ever before. It is our honor to donate a portion of our profits for the first year to the Huntsville chapter of GLSEN.

Shenanigans also plans to give back to the community by providing either free or super affordable classes to help creatives hone their craft. There are plans in place to bring all types of comedy classes (improv, stand up, sketch, television, etc.) to the members of the Shenanigans community.
