  • (1888PressRelease) February 12, 2016 - Shell has sent out a video update as its revolutionary Prelude Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) project winds up major construction in Samsung's Geoje shipyard in South Korea. The Prelude was already huge, but it became much more imposing once the topside modules were installed - 530 yards long, 80 yards wide and built with 260,000 metric tons of steel. When moored off the coast of Western Australia, it will displace 600,000 metric tons of water - as much as six aircraft carriers - and process more natural gas than Hong Kong uses in a year. Against this backdrop, SMi is delighted to announce that a group delegation from Shell has just been confirmed at Floating LNG 2016, joining confirmed attendees from Gazprom, Gas Natural Fenosa, Total, Enagás, Centrica, BP and more. The two-day event will provide the ideal platform to receive updates on current projects, LNG market dynamics, advances in construction and technology, new business opportunities and how to make the most of them.
