    An explosion of color, an abundance of talent and a myriad of mediums will mark the return of Shadyside's premier annual art festival this summer, transforming the heart of this popular dining and retail destination into a gallery style outdoor art extravaganza. The 14th Annual Shadyside Art Festival on Walnut Street, slated for August 27 - 28, 2011, features the finest work of the nation's leading artists including top talent from throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Admission is free and open to the public.

    Bold and vibrant paintings, contemporary and whimsical art, including life-size sculptures, photography and jewelry are among the many works of art that will be on display and for sale during this two-day art event. The festival is set-up along Walnut Street between South Aiken Avenue and South Negley Avenue.

    The artists, juried by an independent panel of expert judges, are hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity and are required to be on site for the duration of the festival, available to discuss their art and inspiration. All of their artwork is original and handmade in America.

    "Festival goers look forward to this show each year," says festival promoter Howard Alan. "Many return hoping to see familiar artists as well as to explore the work of new and emerging talent."

    The 14th Annual Shadyside…The Art Festival on Walnut Street makes the arts accessible to a broad audience. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $30,000 metal sculptures. The event appeals to people of all ages including families, art enthusiasts, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections
