  • (1888PressRelease) March 14, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 039.24 to provide stakeholders with an overview of China’s updated industry standard for snow boots.

QB/T 4556-2023 was issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) on July 28, 2023. It applies to the production, inspection and sale of snow boots for general use, although other footwear products with the function of insulating against the cold can refer to it.

The new standard has revisions to scope, judgment rules, test methods for ‘insulation against cold’ and ‘abrasion resistance of outsole’ and requirements relating to ‘appearance quality’, ‘peeling strength of upper-sole’ and ‘flexing resistance of whole shoe’. There are also four deletions and requirements and test methods for ‘color fastness to rubbing of lining and insock’ have been added.

SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about regulatory and market changes that may impact their business. SafeGuardS 039.24 contains a helpful summary of the updated standard. Alongside details of the four deletions, there is also a table summarizing the main technical requirements in QB/T 4556-2023.

Stakeholders should review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 039.24 for more information.

QB/T 4556-2023 came into effect on February 1, 2024, replacing the previous edition, QB/T 4556-2013.
