  • (1888PressRelease) October 24, 2023 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 128.23 to help stakeholders understand France’s latest developments affecting signs and markings for sorting products into waste and recycling.

On July 6, 2023, the Supreme Administrative Court, Conseil d’États, of France published its decision relating to the execution of Decree of December 25, 2020, which covered the graphic elements for products in relation to recycling. An image containing two or more arrows rolled up and inscribed in a circle was proposed that unequivocally targeted the ‘green dot’. The decision was required following a request by several French federations in February 2021 to suspend it while its legality was considered. Their decision meant Order of November 2020 was officially cancelled.

The green dot is widely recognized in Europe, although it is prohibited in Spain and not recommended to use in other European countries

SGS has published SafeGuardS 128.23 to give stakeholders a better understanding of the legal moves that have led to the cancellation of Order of November 30, 2020.
