  • (1888PressRelease) December 05, 2013 - New Delhi (India): Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), not only account for bulk of enterprises and employment in a country, but also are credited with creating new job opportunities. MSMEs, thus, serve both economic and social objectives. MSMEs have the potential to play a significant role in driving growth in the Indian economy. In order to maximize this potential, effective, evidence-based policy and the creation of a business environment which is growth enabling, are required.

The most important conclusion derived by the India MSME Report 2013 is that there is a severe Confidence Crisis among the entrepreneurs and, to a certain extent, among a few other stakeholders. The loss of confidence, on the one hand, holds back any initiative for action, particularly growth- oriented action, and breeds complacency and artificial satisfaction with the status quo ante. Governments and other providers of development assistance need to be clear as to the exact needs and the kind, quality, quantum and time-line of the assistance to be provided. Otherwise, public programmes for MSME development will lose their direction and focus. This is a danger signal. Articulation is, therefore, essential to bring out the causes behind the loss of confidence and seek remedial measures.

MSME sector and the entrepreneurs encounter various issues while attempting to manage their ventures on a sustainable manner. A case for 'Right to Entrepreneurship' on the same lines as Right to Work , Right to Food, Right to Information etc. the Report argues for a National Enterprise Security system.

In this context, International Society for Small and Medium Enterprises (ISSME), jointly with Institute of Small Enterprises and Development (ISED) and Shriram Institute - Technology Business Incubator (SRI-TBI), is organizing this seminar on December 13, 2013, 3.00 PM to 6. 00 PM at SRI Auditorium, Shriram Institute for Industrial Research, 19, University Road, Delhi - 110007. The association partners for this seminar are All India Kabadi Mazdoor Mahasangh and Federation of Rickshaw Pullers of India.
