The local College Park, MD based company SellMyOldTech has launched as of July 2013. The firm pays consumers to send in their old iPhones and other electronics.

SellMyOldTech was created by Harrison Baum, a student at the University of Maryland, College Park. He previously operated OnCampus Repairs, an iPhone repair service for other students. After the success of that enterprise, Baum wanted to design a new business around buying and reselling devices, rather than just repairing them. It was through this desire that SellMyOwnTech was born. "I wanted to make it as quick, easy, and safe as possible for people to sell their iPhones and get paid fast and securely," said Baum.
In addition to allowing people to send in their phones by mail, Baum also collects phones directly in the College Park area.
