  • (1888PressRelease) February 14, 2014 - LA VISTA, Neb. - Securities America, an independent broker-dealer wholly owned by Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS), has expanded its financing assistance for advisors acquiring other advisors' practices by partnering with American National Bank in Omaha to make funding available.

"This new capital resource expands Securities America's Practice Acquisition Loan Service, which was started in 2008 to help advisors finance their business growth by purchasing a practice owned by another advisor," said Kirk Hulett, Securities America executive vice president of strategy and practice management. "Buyers often don't have cash readily available to make the purchase. Securities America has the expertise and the financial resources to help buyers and sellers structure a deal that works for both of them."

In the past five years, Securities America has assisted in 76 practice acquisitions totaling more than $1.5 billion in client assets. The need for acquisition advice and resources, in addition to the related topics of continuity and succession planning, led Securities America to name a director of practice continuity, succession and acquisition planning, Roger Verboon, in October. Verboon focuses exclusively on educating and guiding financial advisors on these topics.

In addition to financing, Securities America provides advisors a dedicated practice listing site through its parent company, Ladenburg Thalmann. With the joint listing site, Securities America's advisors now can connect more easily with each other and with advisors at Ladenburg's other broker-dealers. The listing site complements Securities America's Practice Transition Center, a first-of-its-kind library of training videos, case studies and other tools that help advisors create and implement continuity, succession and acquisition plans.
