  • (1888PressRelease) July 23, 2010 - Sea Island Coffee Ltd., Europe's leading specialist in rare exotic coffees, scooped two coveted prizes at the annual Great Taste Awards this week.

Hawaii Kona Greenwell Estate Private Reserve received the Two-Star (the second highest prize) accolade, described by the Great Taste Awards judges as "faultless" and as a "complex and interesting aroma to the beans with a hint of fruit and an almost indescribable aroma of the sea...the drink is rounded but with a brightness that lifts it and a body with hints of dark chocolate and another indefinable spiciness".

Jamaica Blue Mountain Clifton Mount Estate received the One-Star prize, described by the Great Taste Award judges as "close to perfect" and as having a "nice subtle aroma with a hint of fruitiness and a nice roundedness".

Guy Wilmot of Sea Island Coffee said, "We are so pleased and honoured to receive these awards. We know that our coffees are fantastic, but to receive these awards, after just eighteen months of retailing, is a great honour and testimony that we are heading in the right direction. Almost all of our single origin coffees are new to Europe and incredibly rare, so we really are creating a completely new market for artisan coffees. It's not an easy road by any means, but we know that there is a discerning market for the highest quality of coffees and receiving prizes from the Great Taste Awards are just what we need to get our message across".

Sea Island Coffee, found online at www.seaislandcoffee.com, is based in Knightsbridge, London and specialises in sourcing the rarest coffees in the world.

Together, the partners have over 50 years of experience in growing, sourcing and importing rare, exotic, luxury coffees into Europe and the Far East. The team at Sea Island Coffee created the concept of "exotic coffees" by finding the kinds of coffees known only to very few, very discerning coffee drinkers and characterized by wonderful stories and very limited production. Each coffee offered delivers a wonderful and unique combination of taste, body, aroma and provenance.
