  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) September 06, 2019 - Any donations of hygiene supplies can be dropped of at the Volunteer Ministers Center located at 101 N. Fort Harrison Avenue in Clearwater.

Hygiene kits will be distributed to individuals who are forced to unexpectedly leave their homes. Provided with basic comforts victims can focus on more urgent matters.

“Hurricane Dorian’s path was changing by the hour”, said Glendy Goodsell, Executive Director of the VM Florida Chapter. “But we know that there are people in need and basic to helping these people – along with food and water – is compiling hygiene kits to help those who had to leave their home to stay at a shelter.”

Indeed the headquarters of the Volunteer Ministers Center has been transformed into a massive production line and compiled dozens of hygiene kits in the last 48 hours. The kits contain vital hygiene items such soap, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, shampoo and so on.

“People in shelters are usually scared, they miss home, are worried about their homes and worried about where they will go next. These people need to know that others are thinking about them and want to help them during a very trying time,” said Ms. Goodsell. “Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard describes a Volunteer Minister in these words: ‘A Volunteer Minister does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil, and injustice of existence. Rather, he is trained to handle these things and help other achieve relief from them and new personal strength as well.’”

Since the opening of their headquarters in 2015, the Volunteer Ministers Florida have compiled and distributed thousands of hygiene kits to various disasters including in the wake of hurricanes Irma, Maria and Harvey.
