    Sakharam Binder:

MICA staged its annual theatre production, Sakharam Binder at Natrani Hall from 23-25 November 2012. The play is an adaptation of the eponymous play by Vijay Tendulkar and was performed to a packed auditorium on all three days.

Directed by Kshitij Rajoria and Surbhi Tiwari, the cast includes Shitiz Dogra, who has worked with NSD Repertoire and Vijaylaxmi Shinde, who has extensively worked in Marathi Theatre. The play is based on the eponymous play by Vijay Tendulkar that has attracted and enthused audiences worldwide since it debuted in 1972.

Here are quotes from various people who saw the first show:

Quote from Varun Maira, the Chief guest.

"Superb play. It is not an easy to adapt a play, particularly if it is Vijay Tendulkar's...MICANs have indeed done a commendable job! "

Quote from Shrey Chakravorty, played the role of Faujdaar in Sakharam Binder

"Natrani is a very unique space to perform at. With the river flowing behind us, and the huge tree over our heads, performing under the open sky is such a wonderful experience!"

Quote from Siddhartha Kathpalia, audience member

"I was deeply moved by the play. MICANs have done a spectacular task here, particularly the actors who fit so well in their roles. I was surprised to know that it is a 1972 play, considering it is so relevant even today."
