  • (1888PressRelease) November 06, 2010 - San Juan Howler Mountain Bike Race is thrilled to announce the third annual race on December 11, 2010. With 42 kilometers of ox paths, dirt paths, single tracks and riverbeds of unspoiled mountain bike action, the Howler is the smallest premier mountain bike race in Central America.

    World-class racer and lead monkey course-setter Anthony Ippolito loves this unique course. "Nicaragua is known for its untouched, raw landscape-and this course takes full advantage of the diversity in the surrounding terrain. You only have to go five minutes outside of San Juan to find some really amazing stuff!" Ippolito enthuses.

    That's why Howler participants look forward every year to return to San Juan del Sur, a charming fishing village. Tara Walsh from Vancouver, B.C., Canada and the only female racer in 2009 said, "Not only did we enjoy the experience of biking in Nicaragua and competing in the race, it was a great opportunity for us to help build the mountain bike scene here. Getting involved with the race while we were vacationing here really allowed us an opportunity to give back. It's wonderful to see the impact by donating to the cause and how it can touch the community."

    How can you prepare for this exhilarating mountain bike action? We're developing an info-rich series of "What to Howl" for in getting the most out of your race participation. Our article series on 2010 San Juan Howler will include:
    * Race info; www.sanjuanhowler.com
    * Exciting Q&A interviews with Race organizers and past participants
    * Handy tips to train and prepare for mountain bike racing in a tropical setting
    * Sponsor ideas for win-win strategic sports marketing
    * Background info on Nicaragua-cultural, historical, political, climate, etc.

    Organized by Bodhin Adventures based in San Juan del Sur, owner Larry Thraen's goal is to offer destination and race management services focusing on eco-friendly, wellness and sports tourism. Top that with memorable local experiences of Nicaraguan culture and heartfelt friendships-and you have winning mountain biking experiences where everyone benefits.

    With over 10+ years of world-class experiences organizing races, Larry Thraen says, "The San Juan Howler is a three-way win for our charities, the athletes, and our host community of San Juan del Sur. We're delighted to offer a great race, for a great cause."

    And, ever mindful that Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the western hemisphere, Howler organizers know it's important for this race to also benefit local nonprofits, Communidad Connect and Fundacion Tierra.

    We encourage you to ask us questions now so we can anticipate your needs and organize a premier event for racers, sponsors and spectators. This is our honest goal-for San Juan Howler to attract world-class and leisure mountain bike racers to return every year-as we prepare for the inaugural 2011 MTB Pan America Championship Race in Colombia!
