  • (1888PressRelease) April 08, 2011 - SAN DIEGO - Two women entrepreneurs are vying for the North American $25,000 start-up grand prize from the Cartier Women's Initiative Awards.

Cartier is giving away $25,000 each to an entrepreneur in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Middle East & North Africa, Sub-saharan Africa, Latin America and North America. San Diego residents Stephanie Burns and Jody Coughlin are competing against other female entrepreneurs in the whole of North America for the money, year of professional business coaching and custom trophy designed by Cartier.

Their company, Chic CEO, is a web resource for female entrepreneurs. Burns and Coughlin developed the web site to provide the ground level information women need to be their own boss. "We really saw a gap in the world of female entrepreneurship. Especially for the 18-30 year old market who want to start businesses. There are plenty of networking groups and associations, but what is missing is a place for these ladies to go to and get instruction, for free." said Burns.

Chic CEO is filled with information to help women start a business, invent a product, buy a franchise, etc. In addition, there is information to help women manage their finances, marketing basics, have a home business, among other things.

"It's the perfect combination of business knowledge, style and camaraderie that women are looking for. This group of women are facing a lot of the same challenges, especially with the job market the way it is. They are really starting to create their own opportunities and we hope Chic CEO can help them do just that." said Coughlin.

The top three businesses from each region will be announced in June. The Finalists are invited to France for the final round of competition which includes submitting a detailed business plan and presenting their projects in front of the jury. They are also invited to the Annual Global Meeting of the Women's Forum.
